Indie Author and Self Publishing Authors can Get Reviews for FREE and get FREE Advertising on Aspiring Author's Blog!

I'm working hard on self publishing my first children's book, which is quite the laborious process, but in the meantime, I feel like it could be very helpful for me to read what other indie and self published authors have written, and offer to read and review their work, for FREE , and put the review on my blog, with a link to the author's website, if applicable, so people can immediately purchase the book if they want. What qualifies me to offer my services to review your work?   Not much.  Well, except I read a great deal, and a variety of literature for that matter.   I write as often as I can.  I have a Masters Degree , and taught middle school language arts for many years, and worked as a librarian for 5 years. So, not much, except all that....AND I'm willing to do it for FREE , and give you free advertising on my blog, which I'm obviously determined to continue and improve by offering this service FREE of charge. But I'm only one person, and...

A Rave Review of 24 Hour Comic Madness Extravaganza by Evil Genius Team, Kevin Bixby & Arthur Bixtone

FREE is GREAT, but FREE & GOOD, that's just Genius! Artist, Kevin Bixby and Author, Arthur Bixtone, of Bixtone Productions  took a chance, and attempted to conquer the 24 Hour Comic Day Challenge, to draw a 24 page book comic in 24 hours.  They failed, but I for one am extremely happy they did, because what they eventually published three years later, 24 Hour Comic Madness Extravaganza ,  which is a collection of three hilarious and creative stories, coupled with incredible art! And best of all, they gave this one away for FREE!  The Attack of the Undead (aka...The Winchester Chronicles), The Revenge of Devilman (aka..Devilman vs. the Amazing Moron), and Frankie's Story (aka...How Lazy can I Get?), are three stories in this edition, that show the variety of hilarious, and evil genius characters, that this duo has in store for their books, including the hero Mystery Man. My personal favorite, although I chuckled through each one, was Attack ...

Inspiration for Another Promising Children's Book from Self Publishing, Indie Author about Stray Cats and Dogs

I'm a Sucker for Rescuing Needy & Stray Dogs and Cats!  My husband would say this year I've gone "cat sh*t crazy". It's the truth. They (we now have two dogs and two cats, all rescues) find their way into my yard, and some of them eventually find their way into our home, and into our hearts. Like our newest, and only female pet, Joey, who walked right up to me crying and rubbing my leg, and hasn't left my side yet since, except for nap time, of course. What's the point of all this? Well, it's inspired me to finish a story I started years ago about my first adopted pet ever, Barney the Wonder Dog . He even was a star in a couple short films I produced during my younger years, titled, The Porta Party (which never made production..but the trailer is below), Reunion Revenge, and my all time favorite, The X-mas Story Reprise. (We were young, and stupid, and obviously had way too much time on our hands, but boy did we have fun!) E...

The Self-Publishing Dilemma Continues for Indie Authors Trying to Avoid Publishing Scams!

Are you trying to figure out how to get your book published?  Tired of searching the web for the most legitimate, and affordable way to make your dream of publishing your own book a reality?  ME TOO! I've been scrounging the internet for months now, searching for the best way to get a children's fiction picture book published , and this is what I've come up with so far....there are WAY TOO MANY SCAMS OUT THERE, and it can be a scary world for Indie authors who are trying to weed through the garbage subsidy and vanity publishers trolling the web for writers with aspirations of becoming published.  What a discouraging process this can be for self-publishing authors! Who to trust?  Please, don't give up!  If you are like me, you are determined to find the best route to take, which is why I would like to start a conversation on this blog, so Indie authors who are publishing books themselves, can share their horror stories and hopefully provide many of...

What a Great Way to Teach Kids Manners! Use Monsters!!

I've got an idea for a series of books, and it's based on a big fat lie I told my toddler one day at dinnertime.  Do I feel bad? Of course.  No good parent wants to lie to their child, but I needed something, and I needed it fast, if I was to direct my son's manners in the right direction.  Enter the Yucky Monsters.... Yucky Monsters are Selfish and Don't Like to Share! "Only Yucky Monsters eat like that, Bobby." Bobby stops mid bite, raises his head with a mouth full of food and asks,  "What's a Yucky Monthur?" And the story begins. I'm excited about this series, but of course, I'd like to finish publishing my first book, and then brag about other ideas. However, I was too excited to wait! I'm teaching myself to design my own illustrations...this will be a process though, because I'm not naturally talented, but as usual, I don't give up on anything I attempt without a fight! Thanks for continuing to ins...

I found this article extremely helpful! Thanks Robert Lee Brewer! Editor FAQs By Robert Lee Brewer The publishing  world is filled with so many nooks and crannies that even the most experienced writers have common questions about various topics, such as co-authoring, self-publishing, ghostwriting and more. I know, because writers tend to ask me the same questions whether I’m speaking at a bookstore or a writer’s conference, or fielding questions through WritersMarket.com. Here are some of those most frequently asked questions with my most frequently given answers.   What’s the trick to getting published? There really  is  no trick to getting published.
