My New Pet , written and illustrated by Melanie Bremner is a delightful story that any child will enjoy reading, and all parents can appreciate. Written in a simple rhyme scheme pattern, this story is great for beginning readers, as well as a great read aloud. My eight year old and I both really enjoyed the original, colorful illustrations.
