Attention Self-Published & Indie Authors...Do you want to sell more books? Now you can!

Have you self-published a children's picture book? Do you consider yourself a self-published author?   THIS PROGRAM IS FOR YOU!! I'm attempting to solve the biggest problem, in my humble opinion, that indie authors and true self-published authors, like myself, are experiencing...lack of exposure..which leads to lack of sales. Join my BETA program... Indie Book Box (The name is still a work in progress!) 1. Submit your book. If accepted, you will be asked to mail a minimum of 5 copies of your book for rotational service and exposure. 2. We include your book in our subscription shipments to our clients. If they keep your book, you make a sale! If they return the book, you still get exposure for your book, which can lead to more sales! The books you submit are on consignment, so to speak. If they sell, we keep 10%, and you keep the rest of the retail price of your book. 3. The fee for authors to join this incredible marketing/publicity service, ju...

Almost at the Self-Publishing Finish Line!

I can't believe it, but I've officially almost published my first children's picture book, and I honestly couldn't be happier with how things have gone thus far! For those of you out there who may be struggling with deciding how to publish your book like I have been, I plan to write a blog describing exactly what I did, and the resources I used to make this dream of mine a reality! However, until I actually have the printed copies of my book in my hot little hand, as my mother would say, I don't want to give any advice or misleading information to anyone about what I have found to be the most economical way to truly self-publish a children's book without paying ridiculous amounts of money for unnecessary services, or a vanity publisher. And now...introducing... Books by Bixby

Teachers Need and Deserve Respect!

The one thing I remember being the hardest part of teaching is gaining my student's respect, but I knew without it, they wouldn't trust me and learn as well from me. What good is a teacher who isn't helping their students learn? So, I created a few activities that I used every year with my students, and I'm excited to share them with other teachers who may struggle as I did for many years. This is just a small sample of what this 17 page document contains. To see the whole document, click here . Gaining Reciprocal Respect   Between Teachers & their Students *Please note: These activities can be modified and adapted to meet almost any grade level. I focus on the 7 th and 8 th grade levels because I know, through first hand experience, that they can be successful with that age range. Purpose It’s every teacher’s dream to be able to enrich their student’s lives with a quality education. The fact that you are expected to ...

A Rave Review for New Author Deanna Beech, who Reminds Us all Just How Lucky We Are!

Artwork by Steven Lester ‘But Aren’t I Lucky That…’ Written By: Deanna Beech Reviewed by: Melissa Bixby You can start each day off in the negative, seeing only disappointment, or you can focus on the whole situation, seeking out the positive aspects of your life, and how fortunate or lucky, you actually are. That’s just one of the beautiful messages Deanna Beech expresses through her relatable characters, and the realistic dialogue in this story. The reader follows a young child through everyday life events, while learning important and valuable coping mechanisms to negative situations, lessons about humanity, being optimistic in difficult times, and feeling good about being a good person, which can be difficult for young children to understand. The realism of the situations, as well as the strong, dynamic characters, compels the reader to reflect on their own life throughout the book. The soft, beautiful brushstrokes of the illustrations, done by talented artist...

A Great Way to Make Some Extra Money Using Your Blog? Let's Explore!

LinkFromBlog UPDATE: 1/9/15 Less than 24 hours later, my account was verified, and I was ready to apply for bids, which seems a little daunting, at first, but easy once I navigated around the site. The help button and FAQ section has been helpful. I have not have any bids approved as of yet, but I will certainly keep you posted! ________________________________________________________________________ This site connects bloggers with advertisers. So, if you own a blog, you can go here, pick a product and write a review about it on your blog. What makes this especially attractive is that you can even use one of those free blog sites like Blogger or WordPress.com. Most paid to review sites don’t accept blogs built on free blogging sites, but this one does, and you should take advantage of it. Once I get my account activated, I will be sure to write a review of the process! If you have any comments to share about LinkFromBlog, please feel free to leave a comment below! Ready ...
